Prolapsus Causes Courses

Prolapse is a medical term used to describe a condition in which any part of the body protrudes from its correct anatomical location. It can occur in any part of the body, including the intestines, urethra, bladder, and uterus. Causes of prolapse include weakening of the supporting musculature, increased intra-abdominal pressure, or injury. Weakening of the supporting musculature can be caused by age-related atrophy of the muscular tissue, or by overstretching of the pelvic floor muscles due to childbirth. Aging is an especially common cause in women. Increased intra-abdominal pressure can be caused by obesity, chronic coughing, straining associated with constipation, heavy lifting, and more. Depending on the body part affected, it can also have a bearing on other medical conditions related to the lungs or intestines. Injury to the tissue can be caused by a traumatic event like a car accident, or can be the result of medical procedures like surgery. Prolapse can also have a hereditary component. In some cases, the underlying condition may be passed down from generation to generation. In women, prolapse is more common if a female relative previously experienced it. In some cases, the cause of prolapse may be unknown. Other times, it is the result of a combination of factors. It is important to speak to your doctor or health provider if you think you may be experiencing prolapse, as there are treatments available to help alleviate symptoms.
