Usmc Pistol Course Of Fire
The USMC Pistol Course of Fire is a handgun shooting qualification administered by the United States Marine Corps (USMC). It is used to assess a candidate's marksmanship abilities and consists of a series of short- and long-range shooting drills. These drills are designed to identify a Marine's ability to accurately and consistently make well-aimed shots. The USMC Pistol Course of Fire consists of five stages. They are the slow fire, timed fire, rapid fire, open fire, and alternate fire stages. The first stage, slow fire, requires the shooter to make well-aimed shots at a stationary target from a fixed position in a defined amount of time. Timed fire requires the shooter to make well-aimed shots at a stationary target while under a time limit. In the rapid fire stage, the shooter must fire two shots at a moving target from a standing position in the required time limit. The fourth stage, open fire, is used to assess the shooter's abilities from different angles and poses. The final stage, alternate fire, requires the shooter to make well-aimed shots from both the left and right hand. Once the course of fire has been completed the shooter will receive a USMC Pistol Qualification score. This score will rank the shooter's performance in relation to the other participants and will reflect the marksmanship abilities of the shooter. The USMC Pistol Course of Fire is an essential part of the Marine Corps' marksmanship training program. It can be used to measure the effectiveness of current training and also to evaluate the potential of future Marines.
