Rezepte Couscous Courses
Couscous is a type of traditional North African dish that can be served as a side or main dish. It is made from the tiny granules of semolina wheat that have been steamed and dried. Couscous is highly versatile and makes an excellent addition to any meal. To prepare couscous, simply combine 1 cup of couscous with 2 cups of boiling water. Let the mixture rest for 10 to 15 minutes, then fluff with a fork. You can season the couscous with a pinch of salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil. For a simple side dish, try adding some freshly chopped herbs to the couscous. Parsley and mint work especially well, but feel free to experiment with whatever herbs you like. Adding a few tablespoons of raisins or dried cranberries to the couscous-water mixture before it sits is a great way to add a touch of sweetness. For a heartier meal, add some cooked chickpeas or lentils to the couscous. You can also sauté some diced onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, or other vegetables in a bit of olive oil before adding it to the dish. For protein, toss in some cooked chicken, beef, pork, or fish. If desired, top the dish off with a little feta cheese or drizzle of olive oil. Couscous is also great in salads. Combine couscous, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, feta cheese, and herbs to make a delicious Mediterranean-style salad. Or toss in cooked poultry, canned tuna, or canned salmon for a protein-packed lunch or dinner. For a sweeter twist on couscous, add some cooked apples, fresh berries, or diced pears to the couscous-water mixture before letting it sit. Add a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves for a unique flavor. Then top off the finished product with a sprinkle of chopped nuts or a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Whatever ingredients you choose to use, couscous offers a simple and delicious way to create nutritious meals that are sure to please. Enjoy!

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spread the pine nuts in a single layer on an ungreased, rimmed baking sheet. Toast in the oven until fragrant and lightly golden, 5 to 7 minutes, stirring once halfway through. - With a fork, fluff up the couscous. Add the raisins, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, and toasted pine nuts to the pot, then stir the ingredients together to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Enjoy hot.
