Raynaud Causas Courses
Raynaud's, also known as Raynaud's phenomenon or Raynaud's disease, is an intermittent vasospastic disorder that causes bouts of reduced blood circulation to the fingers, toes, ears, and sometimes other parts of the body, such as the nipples and tip of the nose. When the affected tissues become cold or when the individual experiences extreme emotions, the blood vessels narrow and blood flow is restricted. This can cause the affected fingers and toes to become whitish in color before eventually turning to shades of blue or red. There are a few different suspected causes of Raynaud's disease. One is that it is caused by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system monitors and regulates the vertebral arteries and other blood vessels in the body, so a malfunction in this system can cause it to produce prolonged or exaggerated responses. Another possible cause is a defect in the small vessels themselves, which can lead to an excessive constriction of these vessels in response to cold temperatures or emotional stress. In some cases, Raynaud's may be caused by an underlying condition such as lupus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, or Sjögren's syndrome. It can also be triggered by certain medications such as beta blockers or medications used to treat migraine headaches. Smoking can also be linked to the condition.
