Olaf Cordes Courses
Olaf Cordes is a German journalist and author. He wrote several books before becoming a full-time journalist in 1988. He has worked as a reporter, editor, and columnist for several leading German newspapers, including Die Welt, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and he was an editor-in-chief of Die Zeit weekly from 2005 to 2018. Cordes has earned numerous awards for his work, including the “Journalist of the Year” honor from the German Media Association in 2002, the Marburger Journalism Prize in 2003, and the Hubertus Prize for Media Ethics in 2013. Cordes is known for his in-depth reporting, which often portrays issues in a broad social and political context rather than focusing on sensationalism. He has extensively covered topics ranging from the German reunification and the NATO intervention in Kosovo to the global financial crisis and the spiraling Middle East crisis. Furthermore, Cordes is also a speaker, lecturer and panelist at various events. In 2013, he was appointed chairman of the board of trustees of Generation Digital, a Berlin-based non-profit organization that provides digital education opportunities to children and young adults. Overall, Cordes is regarded as a leader in the German journalistic field and is highly respected among his peers. His work has helped to shape the modern journalistic landscape in Germany and beyond.
