Oise Course Descriptions

OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) is a world-renowned research and teaching institution affiliated with the University of Toronto. OISE offers a wide range of university-level courses that cover such topics as curriculum studies, school leadership, educational assessment and accountability, and special education. OISE’s experienced faculty members are engaged with their students, as well as with scholars and communities around the world in pursuit of understanding and advancing teaching and learning. At OISE, students can choose from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as postgraduate certificates and diplomas. Each course description outlines the subject matter, objectives, and the type of assignments that can be expected. The courses are designed to give a comprehensive grounding in the different elements of the educational system, from the elementary to the higher levels. This can range from basic language and numeracy skills to interactive multimedia projects, as well as a wide range of research topics. For those interested in pursuing a graduate degree, OISE has one of the best distance-learning programmes in the country. The courses are delivered asynchronously, meaning that work can be submitted remotely, with lectures and resources available online. This allows students to balance their studies with their current lifestyle, while still being part of the OISE academic community. The course description pages feature detailed information on: eligibility criteria; the prerequisites, if any; credit equivalencies; structure and outcomes; and assessment methods. Students are able to find the right fit for their unique educational goals and explore the possibilities available through OISE. The OISE Course Descriptions provide interested students with a comprehensive overview of the courses that are available, allowing them to make informed decisions and find the best education programmes to suit their needs. OISE’s educational offerings are constantly evolving, allowing learners to take advantage of the most up-to-date learning opportunities available.
