Uw Madison Course Reevaluation

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Course Reevaluation process allows students to request a course reevaluation when they feel they have not been adequately served by their current course grade. The reevaluation entails a review of the student’s course grade and academic records by a faculty member, who is able to make a determination of whether the course grade should stay or be adjusted. This process helps to ensure that all grades are given fairly, and that students are given the best opportunities to succeed in their educational endeavors. The Course Reevaluation process is available for both undergraduate and graduate students at UW-Madison. Students must first meet with an academic advisor to discuss their request and to ensure that it meets the necessary criteria. This can include such things as discussions about the clarity of the course content, any special circumstances that may have affected their understanding of the material, whether their grade was lower than expected, or if they had difficulty mastering the material in the course. Once the initial meeting is complete, a faculty member may be assigned to the student’s review. During the Course Reevaluation process, faculty members review the student’s course grade, as well as any academic records and course materials. Depending on the circumstance, students may also be asked to submit course papers, exams, and other materials that pertain to the evaluation. The faculty member is then able to make a determination as to whether the grade should stay or be changed. If the grade is determined to be meet the standards of the University, the student may then receive the adjusted grade. The Course Reevaluation process at UW-Madison is designed to ensure that all students are given the best opportunities to succeed academically and that grades are given fairly and accurately. It is important for students to keep in mind that a Course Reevaluation is not a guarantee that a student’s grade will change, and it is always important to speak with an academic advisor to ensure that the criteria for a reevaluation have been met.
