Uconn Psych Related Courses
At the University of Connecticut, students can pursue a range of psychology-related courses to enrich their study of the science of behavior and mental processes. From the introduction to psychology sequence that offers a general overview of the discipline, to advanced courses in the areas of social, developmental, and abnormal psychology, UConn offers a comprehensive range of academic opportunities. For undergraduate students, introductory courses such as Introduction to Psychology (PSY 1200) and Statistics in Psychology (PSY 2801) are required for all majors. Elective courses cover a wide span of topics related to social psychology, cognitive science, and developmental psychology, as well as courses on personality, addictions, and mental health. The Psychology Department also offers courses in research methods, physiological psychology, and psychological assessment and testing. At the graduate level, students can specialize in the field of psychology, and can choose from topics such as social psychology, clinical psychology, human development, neuroscience, and developmental psychopathology. Courses in psychological assessment and intervention, psychometric theory, qualitative research, and advanced topics in clinical psychology are also available. In addition to traditional coursework, the department also offers experiential learning opportunities and research assistantships for students who want to gain practical experience in their field. In these positions, students can be involved in ongoing research projects in the department, or develop and propose their own research initiatives. No matter what level they are at, students at the University of Connecticut have access to a wide range of psychology-related courses and experiences that can help prepare them for a successful career in the field.
