Ribosome Cause Cancer Courses
Ribosomes are small organelles within cells that are mainly responsible for the production of proteins. Although ribosomes are essential to life and health, there is evidence to suggest that some ribosomal proteins can cause cancer. Ribosomes are composed of two subunits, a small and a large one, which come together to produce proteins from the cell's DNA coded instructions. Several studies have found a link between some specific ribosomal proteins and cancer development. For example, one particular ribosomal protein, RPL22, has been linked to a wide range of cancer types, including breast, lung, and kidney cancer. The exact mechanism of how ribosomal proteins can cause cancer is still unknown but it is thought that they may affect certain genes or proteins necessary for controlling cell division and growth, which can lead to the development of cancer cells. Overall, the link between ribosomal proteins and cancer development is still being researched. However, it is clear that the role of ribosomes in protein synthesis must be carefully monitored in order to ensure the prevention or treatment of certain cancers.
