Reference Sources Include Courses
Reference sources are materials used to find information on a specific subject or topic, such as books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, catalogs, internet searches, or interviews. Reference sources can be used to provide general information or specific facts that may be helpful when researching a subject. When researching a topic, it is important to verify the accuracy of any reference source. Reference sources are great for giving an overview of a topic and finding additional resources, but it is important to be sure the information provided is up to date and reliable. A reference librarian or expert in the field may be able to help identify credible sources. Reference sources include, but are not limited to, books, interviews, magazine, newspaper and journal articles, databases, government documents, and the internet. Academically, reference sources are most commonly used to find accurate information on a specific subject, but they can also be used to locate primary sources. Primary sources are original documents written by the researcher or historian and provide evidence to support a research topic. By using a variety of reference sources, a researcher can deepen their understanding of a topic by gathering multiple perspectives. Used together, reference sources and primary sources help shape the finished research project.
