Rechtsassessor Courses

Rechtsassessor is a professional title given to individuals in Germany and other European countries who specialize in law. It is one of the two special titles that are allowed to be used by jurists in Germany and Austria, the other one being “Rechtsanwalt”. To receive the title of “Rechtsassessor”, an individual must have completed a specialized legal education, passed a state-administered examination and achieved a position in some branch of the legal system in an official capacity which is recognized by the German Federal Ministry of Justice. Rechtsassessor is the equivalent of a “Lawyer” or “Solicitor” in other English-speaking countries. Those individuals with the title generally practice in either civil or criminal law or in both. Rechtsassessor may also be involved in the areas of judicial system such as public sector, legal services, and legal studies. To become a Rechtsassessor, the individual must complete a number of study requirements, participate in certain internship programs, and pass specific examinations. The title of Rechtsassessor is a respected one in Germany and other European countries, and is held in high regard in many legal circles. Rechtsassessor are often consulted in the preparation of legal documents, litigation and other legal proceedings, and the interpretation of laws. They advise corporate and public sector organizations on legal matters such as contract negotiations, copyright and patent laws, labor laws, tax laws, and financial matters. It is expected that an individual with the title be an expert in the field of law.
