Raimundas Lopata Courses

Raimundas Lopata is a Lithuanian polymath and a contemporary lecturer, researcher and author. He is most known for his popular books «Chernobyl Syndrome» (2005) and «Nature's Revenge» (2008). Raimundas has quickly become one of the most notable Lithuanian scientists and is highly regarded among both his peers and the general public. Raimundas Lopata attended the Vilnius University, where he received his PhD in environmental science in 1997. His research focuses on environmental issues, environmental stress and environmental harm as well as health and environmental effects of nuclear disaster. His achievements include researching the immediate and long-term effects of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in 1986, as well as the continued effects of nuclear tests in the Semipalatinsk Test Site. Raimundas has also published numerous books, articles and presentations, both in Lithuania and abroad. He has published in the International Union of Radioecology and the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity amongst others. Raimundas has also written extensively on international and regional climate change, particularly with regard to his home country of Lithuania. Raimundas Lopata’s knowledge and insight on environmental issues have made him a highly sought-after lecturer and public speaker. He has spoken at several international conferences, such as the Eastern Europe Climate Change Forum and the International Conference on Environmental Stress and Ecological Systems. He is a highly influential member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, which is the top body responsible for Lithuanian scientific research. In addition to his academic achievements, Raimundas has also actively promoted environmental awareness through his involvement in several environmental organizations, such as Friends of Nature and the Lithuanian Green Movement. Raimundas Lopata is a true ambassador for environmental stewardship, responsible for enriching the Lithuanian public's understanding of the environment as well as contributing to the knowledge of environmental science throughout the world.
