Purvis Corsicana Courses
Purvis Corsicana is a small town located in Navarro County in northeastern Texas. It was founded in 1870 by Alexander Purvis, an ex-slave from Georgia. The area was originally known as Pursleyville, but was changed to Purvis in 1881. At the turn of the 20th Century, the area was largely agricultural and ranching. With the discovery of oil in 1924 and the rediscovery of one of the state's oldest salt domes in 1933, Purvis and Navarro County began to boom. Oil production peaked in the 1950s, when Purvis was transformed from a small agricultural hamlet to a booming oil town. In the decades since, Purvis has undergone something of a renaissance. Today, the town of Purvis Corsicana boasts an impressively low unemployment rate and businesses in sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, insurance and banking. Additionally, it’s become known for its small-town charm, with locals and visitors alike enjoying a variety of cultural activities, such as bird watching and local events featuring regional music. The town has something to offer everyone. Whether you’re looking to move to a peaceful, affordable town or just want to explore a piece of Texas history, Purvis Corsicana is the perfect place to visit.
