Pubalgia Cause Courses
Pubalgia, sometimes referred to as 'athletic pubalgia', is an injury to the pubic region of the body caused by repetitive overuse or excessive strain. It is a type of groin injury that involves inflammation and pain in the pubic area. Pubalgia can be caused by a variety of activities, including running, kicking, training, and playing certain sports such as soccer or hockey. The most common cause of pubalgia is due to overuse or overload of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the pubic region as a result of repetitive activities. Activities that can place a great deal of strain on the pubic region include kicking, twisting, turning, and running. As well, a sudden, extreme burst of activity, such as in sprinting or tackling, can also cause pubalgia. Trauma, such as from a fall or tackle, can also cause pubalgia. Overweight and obesity can be another culprit, as it increases the load on the groin area, which over time can lead to inflammation and pain. The correct technique when performing activities that could potentially cause pubalgia is also important. Bone marrow edema, also known as bone bruising, can be a cause of pubalgia if it is present in the affected area. Bone marrow edema occurs when the bones are injured and become soft with a buildup of fluid around it. In some cases, pubalgia can be caused by an underlying medical condition such as osteitis pubis, which is inflammation of the pubic bone caused by a bacterial infection.
