Ptcas Course Requirements

PTCAS (Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service) is an online application portal that allows applicants to apply to multiple physical therapist (PT) programs using one centralized application. PTCAS has requirements for the courses applicants must take in order to be considered for admission to their programs. Depending on the program, applicants may be required to complete general education courses, biology courses, and courses specific to the major they are seeking admission to. General Education and Biology Courses: Most physical therapist programs require applicants to complete a set of college level courses in order to apply. These courses often include general education courses such as English composition, math, humanities, and social science. Additionally, some programs require applicants to complete college-level biology courses, such as anatomy and physiology. Specific Course Requirements: Many physical therapist programs have specific prerequisites related to the major they are offering. For example, a physical therapy program might require applicants to complete courses in anatomy, physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, and biomechanics as prerequisites for admission. In addition to taking college-level courses, applicants usually must maintain a competitive GPA in order to be competitive for admission. The GPA may be set by the specific physical therapist program or based on the applicant's college-level course grades. PTCAS also requires applicants to submit official transcripts from each college or university attended. The transcripts must be from the institution where the applicant took the course, not from a third-party transcript company such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse.
