Protruding Sessile Polyps Courses
Protruding sessile polyps are growths that attach to the inside of the colon or rectum wall. They are most often benign but can be a concerning sign of colorectal cancer. Sessile polyps can range in size from a few millimeters up to several centimeters in diameter and may be present singly or in clusters. They are generally caused by abnormal tissue growth that can develop from chronic inflammation or long-term irritation of the area. Symptoms associated with protuding sessile polyps can include constipation, bloody stools, anemia, abdominal pain, fatigue, and rectal pressure. The diagnosis of this condition is made through a series of tests, such as a physical exam, imaging tests like ultrasound, or an endoscopy to assess the polyps directly. Treatment can involve removing the polyps through endoscopic removal, or by surgical removal. In some instances, the polyps are monitored regularly to ensure they do not cause any troubles. In cases where the polyps are suspicious or cancerous, additional treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, may be indicated depending on the severity of the condition. It is important to speak to a doctor if you are experiencing any symptoms associated with protuding sessile polyps or if you believe you may have this condition. Early detection and proper monitoring can help reduce the risk of developing serious complications.
