Ponseti Course
Ponseti Course is a short educational program that is focused on teaching the principles of the Ponseti Method of clubfoot treatment. Developed by Dr. Ignacio Ponseti in the 1940’s, the Ponseti Method is a non-surgical treatment for congenital clubfoot (or tarsal coalition) that has been used globally to permanently correct this condition in both infants and adults. The Ponseti Course is designed to equip healthcare practitioners with the information and skills they need to diagnose, treat and manage congenital clubfoot using the Ponseti Method. The course is divided into four sections, each of which focuses on an aspect of using the Ponseti Method. Participants learn about the biomechanics and anatomy of clubfoot, how to apply the Ponseti casts, different techniques for manipulating feet, and the importance of post-cast rehabilitation. The course also covers topics such as special considerations for multiple clubfeet, the treatment of adults with clubfoot, and how to prevent complications associated with the condition. At the end of the course, participants should have a thorough understanding of the Ponseti Method and should be able to effectively diagnose, treat, and manage clubfoot using this technique. The Ponseti Course is useful for any healthcare professionals who provide treatment for clubfoot, such as pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and nurses. It is a great way for those working in the area of clubfoot treatment to stay up-to-date on the latest research and methods for addressing this common birth defect.
