Polyurie Causes Courses

Polyuria causes refer to the underlying medical conditions that lead to the excessive passing of urine. It is an often embarrassing and uncomfortable symptom of a wide range of medical conditions, but the most common cause is diabetes mellitus or diabetes insipidus. While polyuria is often a symptom of diabetes, it may also indicate other health issues. Diabetes Mellitus Diabetes mellitus is by far the most common cause of polyuria. Patients with diabetes mellitus have a reduced ability to absorb glucose from their bloodstream, due to a lack of insulin being produced by the pancreas. In response to this, the body produces more urine to rid the body of the excess glucose, leading to polyuria. Other Causes Diabetes insipidus, a condition that leads to abnormalities in the production or release of the antidiuretic hormone (ADH) in the brain, is another cause of polyuria. Hyperparathyroidism, urinary tract infections, kidney infections, or even excessive amounts of diuretic medications can sometimes cause polyuria. Additionally, some hormonal imbalances, such as those seen in diabetes mellitus, can lead to polyuria. In some cases, emotions such as stress, anxiety, and excitement may also cause polyuria.
