Polyomavirus Causes Courses
Polyomavirus causes a range of illnesses, including the common cold, conjunctivitis, neurological conditions, and even some forms of cancer. It is a type of DNA virus that can infect both humans and animals. The most common polyomavirus infections in humans are the common cold and conjunctivitis. Symptoms of the common cold include runny nose, sore throat, and coughing. Conjunctivitis usually causes redness, itchiness, and swelling of the eyes. Both of these illnesses are caused by the same virus and can be treated with over-the-counter medications. Polyomaviruses can also cause more serious illnesses, such as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and nephropathy. Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy is a neurological condition that can cause serious symptoms such as confusion and difficulty walking. Nephropathy is a kidney condition that can lead to renal failure. Polyomaviruses can also cause some forms of cancer. The most well-known example is Merkel cell carcinoma, which is a type of skin cancer. Merkel cell carcinoma is caused by the Merkel cell polyomavirus. It is an aggressive form of cancer and has a high mortality rate. In conclusion, polyomaviruses can cause a range of illnesses, from mild cold and conjunctivitis to more serious neurological and renal conditions and even some forms of cancer. It is important to be aware of the potential risks of polyomavirus infections and to take appropriate precautions to reduce the likelihood of contracting the virus.
POLYOMAVIRIDAE - WIKIPEDIA
The large tumor antigen plays a key role in regulating the viral life cycle by binding to the viral origin of DNA replication where it promotes DNA synthesis. Also as the polyomavirus relies on the host cell machinery to replicate the host cell needs to be in s-phase for this to begin. Due to this, large T-antigen also modulates cellular signaling pathways to stimulate progression of the cell cycle by binding to a number of cellular control proteins. This is achieved by a two prong attack … ...
