Pltw High School Courses

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses are a selection of rigorous, challenging, and engaging high school STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses that help students master the 21st century’s most pressing challenges. The courses are designed to help prepare students to enter college and the workforce with the skills needed to be successful. PLTW courses also help foster skills to create a more innovative, sustainable and thriving world. The PLTW high school program includes 17 courses offering exciting, project-based learning focusing on engineering, computer science, biomedical science, and environmental sustainability. As students progress through different levels of courses, they will gain insight into the benefits of STEM and develop a better understanding of the real-world applications of their learning. As a result, students may be well-prepared for college study and for the jobs of the future. The courses offered in the high school program give students the opportunity to delve deeply into the various engineering disciplines. The engineering pathway offers an exciting range of courses such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics and Aerospace Engineering. The PLTW Computer Science pathway features six hands-on courses that teach the skills needed to be a successful computer scientist. The courses range from Introduction to Programming and Intro to Computer Science, to Algorithms & Computational Thinking and Computer Science Principles. Lastly, the PLTW Biomedical Science pathway helps students gain an understanding of the human body and see how medical professionals use analytical data to diagnose and treat disease. The six-course pathway includes Human Body Systems, Principles of Biomedical Science, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovations. PLTW courses allow students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their field of choice and the career-readiness training they need to be successful.
