Pityriasis Versicolor Cks Courses
Pityriasis versicolor, also known as tinea versicolor, is a common fungal infection of the skin. The infection is caused by a type of yeast known as Malassezia and results in the appearance of one or more patches on the body. It is common in people with oily skin and tends to be more noticeable in summer months as a result of increased sweating. The patches usually appear on the face, neck, chest, and back, but can occur anywhere on the body. They are usually light- to reddish-brown in color and may be either round or oval in shape. The condition is generally harmless but it can be unsightly. Treatment consists of a variety of antifungal medications and topical antifungal creams. Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) for Pityriasis Versicolor provide detailed information on the diagnosis and management of this condition. CKS provide clear, evidence-based guidance on diagnosis and management of common clinical problems and are an important resource for GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
