PA1 is an introductory pesticide course that a student can take to gain an understanding of pesticide safety, how to safely handle and manage pesticide products and their effects on the environment. This course covers the physical, chemical and toxicological properties of pesticides, as well as their environmental fate and impacts. Students will learn about regulatory requirements, pest management strategies and the hazards associated with pesticide formulations and their applications. In addition, students will gain a thorough understanding of record keeping, labeling and reporting requirements. This course is designed to be a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of pesticide use and safety, and it is geared toward anyone that may encounter pesticides while working in the agriculture industry.
