Pepcid Causes Burping Courses
Pepcid is a popular over-the-counter medication used to treat heartburn, indigestion, and other symptoms of acid reflux. It is an antacid medication. One of the most common side effects of taking Pepcid is burping. While occasional bouts of burping may not be a major issue, persistent and excessive burping caused by Pepcid can be distressing and embarrassing. Burping is caused by the Pepcid activating salivary glands in the mouth. This increases the amount of saliva in the mouth, leading to a build-up of air which is then expelled as a burp. As the Pepcid helps to reduce the acid in the stomach, this causes the stomach to become unbalanced. This can lead to further burping as the body naturally seeks to rebalance the concentration of acid in the stomach. Aside from burping, other common side effects of taking Pepcid can include nausea and constipation. If these side effects become persistent or severe, it is recommended that you speak with your doctor. Your doctor may be able to suggest different medications or provide advice on how to manage the side effects.
