Pensacola Courts is a court system located in the city of Pensacola, Florida. It comprises of various trial courts, including a circuit court, county court, and municipal court. The Pensacola Circuit Court is the highest court in the area, and it is responsible for hearing all major criminal cases, as well as civil cases involving more than $15,000. The Judges of this court are elected to four-year terms by the people in the county. The Pensacola County Court is the county’s appellate court, and it also hears civil cases involving less than $15,000, as well as small claims cases. This court is presided over by one or more Judges, who are appointed to their positions by the Governor. The Pensacola Municipal Court hears only traffic cases, such as DUIs and other violations of Florida’s motor vehicle laws. This court is presided over by a Municipal Judge, who is appointed by the Pensacola City Council.
