Johann Sebastian Bach's Partitas for keyboard are a set of six works composed for solo piano between 1726 and 1730. Inspired by the French suite, the partitas are highly structured compositions written for harpsichord, clavichord, or organ. The Partitas feature a series of dance-like preludes, allemandes, and courantes, plus a rich, melodic suite of gigues, sarabandes and menuets. Each piece is structured in groups of variations and is full of contrapuntal writing, rich harmonies, and breathtaking virtuosity.
