Palestinasjalar Courses

Palestinasjalar, an authentic form of folk dance from the ancient town of Rasmussen in Norway, is a traditional form of folk dancing that was first documented in the late 19th century, though it may be much older. It is believed to have strong connections with the ancient Norse culture, and is still practiced today, mainly keeping its old traditional style. The dance itself is performed in pairs, usually in a slow and gentle manner, involving plenty of gentle swaying, shuffling and stepping. Palisticasjalar is traditionally performed to music of the polka variety and is danced by both men and women, although men usually lead the dance. The dance involves plenty of hand-clapping, singing, and occasionally the men will use body-slapping, which is believed to symbolize the brotherhood of the people, and is usually very rhythmic. The Palisticasjalar is a great way of keeping alive the ancient traditions of the people of Rasmussen and is still enjoyed today. It is a great way of preserving their culture and can be seen at many events, festivals, and celebrations.
