Programming Assignment 4 (PA4) is a course offered by the University of Texas at Dallas. It focuses on the principles of software engineering and teaches how to develop software using modern software engineering techniques. Students will learn how to design software and how to implement a complete software application using best practices and design patterns. Topics covered in the course include software design principles and techniques, user-centered design, process models, software architectures, agile development concepts, testing, documentation and source control. Students will create a software application throughout the course using analytic and creative problem-solving to design and implement software features. The class also covers topics related to software development, such as requirements engineering, software architecture and software metrics. The course requires students to demonstrate mastery of these topics via weekly programming assignments, team projects, and written assignments. Students are also expected to demonstrate their mastery of programming techniques through the development of a complete software application. The course objectives include learning to develop well-structured software to solve real-world problems. The final class project will be either an individual or a team project. The project will demonstrate the students' mastery of software engineering principles and their ability to analyze and solve a problem.
