Oxidase Courses

Oxidase is an enzyme that facilitates the oxidation of substrates by donating electrons to an oxidizing agent. Oxidases are most commonly found in bacteria, fungi, and plants, and can serve as important tools in biochemical processes such as energy metabolism and electron transport. Oxidases catalyze a wide variety of biochemical reactions, including the metabolism of glucose, the production of lactic acid, and the synthesis of neurotransmitters. In some cases, oxidases can even be used to create reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can be used for defense against certain pathogens.
