Orchite Causes Courses
Orchite is a rare disorder caused by the inflammation of testicles and epididymis. It is most commonly seen in boys aged between 15 and 25 but is not limited to this age group. It is a condition that is difficult to diagnose since the symptoms may be mistaken for those of other conditions such as hernia or hydrocele. The exact cause of orchite is unknown but it is believed to be triggered by either an infection of the testicles or by trauma. It has also been implicated in cases of infertility due to the damage caused to the sperm production. One of the main symptoms of orchite is the presence of painful lumps in the scrotum. These lumps, which are known as sperm granulomas, can be tender and inflamed and may cause difficulty in movement. Other symptoms include swelling of the testicles, low back pain and fever. Treatment for orchite is mainly aimed at relieving the associated symptoms. Your physician may recommend antibiotics to treat any underlying infection or anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling. In severe cases, surgical intervention may be required. If left untreated, orchite can result in infertility or it can cause long-term damage to the reproductive system if left untreated for an extended period. It is important to seek treatment for orchite as soon as possible to prevent these long-term complications.
