Orangutangas Courses
Orangutangs are amazing primates native to Southeast Asian rainforests. They are the largest arboreal mammal in the world, with large males weighing up to 200 pounds. They are socially complex with small family groups that travel together foraging for food. They are highly intelligent animals, with the ability to use tools, such as sticks to get food from high in the trees. They have a distinctive orange-brown color, and thin, long arms that are made for reaching and swinging from tree to tree. Orangutangs have much in common with humans, with similar facial features and inquisitive behavior. They communicate through gestures, facial expressions, and complex vocalizations. Females typically give birth to one baby every four to five years, and their offspring stay with them for about eight years before becoming independent. Unfortunately, these intelligent, warm animals are threatened by destruction of their natural habitats, and poaching.
