Onorevole Cesare Damiano Courses
Onorevole Cesare Damiano (born November 13, 1942) is an Italian politician and was the Minister of Labour and Social Policies of Italy from 2000 to 2001. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party and is a Member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Damiano was born in Bozzolo, Province of Mantua, Lombardy. After completing high school, he enrolled in the University of Parma and studied political science, graduating in 1967. In the following years, he began a career in trade unionism, and was the General Director of the Italian Confederation of Workers' Unions (CGIL) from 1985 to 1994. From 1994 to 1997, he was the Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Italian Republic. Following this, in 1997, he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies, representing the Democratic Party. In 2000 he returned to government, when he was appointed Minister of Labour and Social Policies of the Giuliano Amato cabinet. In 2001, his term ended and he moved back to the Chamber of Deputies, where he was re-elected in 2006 and 2013. Damiano is currently a special adviser to the Ministries of Social Security Affairs and Labour and Work. In addition to his political career, Damiano is involved in numerous social initiatives, ranging from poverty reduction efforts to pension reform. He is also the President of the Association of European MPs for a Global Economy, which aims to promote sustainability, social responsibility and the use of technology in the global marketplace.
