Olano Cournon Courses

Olanos Cournon is a small village in the Auvergne–Rhône-Alpes region of France. Located just outside the city of Clermont-Ferrand, it lies in the foothills of the Chaîne des Puys, 35 km in the east of the city. The village is the home to a flourishing farming community with a strong Catholic connection. Traditional buildings here are made of granite and slate with steep cobbled streets weaving up the hillsides. Beautiful views around the village are dominated by the imposing Chaîne des Puys, which rises to a height of 905 m, offering spectacular panoramas of the area. Olanos Cournon also has an 11th century Romanesque church complete with a bell tower, and an impressive 14th century castle nearby. The chapel is a real gem and features a number of beautiful and important features however, unfortunately, it is not open to the public. Annually the village host "La Fête des fromages" which has been taking place since the 16th century, celebrating the local cheese making tradition. This day is a popular event and brings many visitors to the village who enjoy the local produce and experience the charming rural surroundings of Olanos Cournon.
