O Course Marine Corps
The Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course (OCC) is the entry-level training program for aspiring officers in the United States Marine Corps. The twelve-week course tests physical and mental mettle, as well as leadership potential, in order to prepare future Marine Corps Officers for the rigors of military service. The course is organized into three four-week phases, covering topics such as physical conditioning and military courtesy. Those who successfully complete the Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course will receive their commissions as Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course is a necessary step for Marine Corps officers. It is designed to develop a firm foundation of military knowledge and skills, while also testing a candidate's ability to lead and make difficult decisions. During the course, candidates learn the fundamentals of officer development, as well as legal and ethical considerations. Physical fitness and communication skills are also emphasized. This course provides Marine Corps officers with the necessary foundation to develop and conduct effective leadership within their assigned unit. The Marine Corps requires all officer candidates to complete the Officer Candidate Course before they can receive their commission. Successful completion of this course is a requirement for any Marine who wishes to become an officer in the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps is committed to providing a strong foundation in military knowledge and skills to its newly commissioned officers and thus places strong emphasis on the Officer Candidate Course. Students wishing to pursue a career in the Marine Corps must first complete the Officer Candidate Course before they can receive their commission. This course is not only a necessary requirement for all Marine Corps officers, but it is also a great way to gain a better understanding of the Marine Corps. By completing the Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course, candidates will be able to develop greater understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and leadership abilities within the Marine Corps.
