Light Sources Ks2 Courses
Light sources are a vital part of everyday life, providing us with light to see in the dark and monitor electrical power use. At KS2, children learn about different light sources and how they are used in everyday life. Different forms of light sources can be divided into two categories: natural and artificial. Natural light sources include the sun, moon, stars and fire. Artificial light sources include electric lights and fluorescent lamps. KS2 children can learn about different natural light sources, such as the sun. The sun provides the most light and heat to the planet and is essential for life on earth. KS2 children can also learn about solar power, which is the technology used to capture energy from the sun and convert it into usable electricity. When learning about artificial light sources, children can explore the components of electric lighting, such as light fixtures, light bulbs, and electrical wiring. They can also explore fluorescent lamps, including how they work and why they are energy efficient. By learning about light sources at KS2, children can gain a better understanding of the use of light in everyday life. They can apply their knowledge to understand the basics of energy usage and the importance of conserving energy. It can also help to inform their understanding of more complex topics, such as climate change.
