La Pitie Ecmo Course

The La Pitie ECMO Course is an intensive medical and nursing intensive course designed specifically for participants from all healthcare specialties who manage and provide support for patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy. This course is designed to update the knowledge and skills of ECMO professionals and to create a network of ECMO providers in the French speaking area. The course is held annually at the Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital in Paris and takes place over a weekend. The course consists of 16 hours of classroom lectures and workshops by leading experts in the field of ECMO. The topics include, but are not limited to, acute hemodynamics, ECMO initiation, monitoring and management, ECMO cannulation, anticoagulation, complications and management, mechanical ventilation, post ECMO management, simulated scenarios, and ethical considerations. The course also includes interactive sessions with the participants, in order to give them an opportunity to share experiences and discuss issues related to ECMO care and treatment. Additionally, there are networking opportunities with other ECMO providers worldwide.
