How Long Is An Olympic Or Long Course Pool

An Olympic-sized pool is the standard for international competitions and ranges in length from 50 to 164 feet. The maximum length of the pool is 164 feet, with the minimum width of 82 feet. It is also a requirement that the pool must have 8 lanes, each measuring 2 meters in width. Olympic pools typically have a depth of 7 feet and 8 inches, but can range from as shallow as 4 feet and 7 inches, to as deep as 13 feet. Long Course pools have some similarities to Olympic pools, in that the length specification is 50 meters and the depth is typically 7 feet and 8 inches. The width of the pool is also similar to an Olympic pool, ranging from 82 feet up to 99 feet. The distinguishing factor between an Olympic pool and a Long Course pool is the number of lanes. A Long Course pool must have at least 10 lanes (2 meters wide each), while an Olympic pool primarily has 8 lanes.
