Start A Traditional Greeting Card Business For Print
Start A Traditional Greeting Card Business For Print
If you've ever dreamed of "owning a print greeting card business," then this is the class for you. This class is intended for the folks who want to learn basic card making and selling cards to retail shops, online, or have their own brick and mortar stores. You'll learn the ins and outs of the greeting card business including how to make your art, design your card, print it, and prepare your cards for distribution in card stores all across the land. You'll learn about companies that carry inventory and have a "Line" of cards. I started my card company with 24 designs; 24,000 in all and walked the aisles of the NYC Stationery Show. I practically walked up and down gorgeous and trendy Newbury Street in Boston looking for accounts in order to grow my business back in the late 1980s.
With the technology on your phone, iPad, and computer, "anyone" can design and sell greeting cards. However, you will still need to have that hunger to make a go of it. Inside this course, you'll learn what it takes to succeed and mistakes to avoid. You'll learn a lot more than you think on preparing artwork for print and the web. And the best part is this course is constantly changing. As I learn more, or find more information, I'll share it with you. It will be like having a trusted mentor to lean on! Many people have made small fortunes on creating greeting cards, so if you like to write and draw and have a "look" that you feel comfortable seeing on your own cards, I can help you get that business off the ground.
If you think the printed card is dead, think again. In 2015, two naval engineers turned greeting card inventors/entrepreneurs gained an investment of $300,000 from "Mr. Wonderful," Kevin O'Leary into Lovepop. Their success enabled them to receive additional funding of $12.5 million in 2018. Their unique card design won the hearts of buyers of paper greeting cards. Wombi Rose and John Wise became best friends at Webb Institute training to become naval architects. Years later while on a Harvard Business School trip to Vietnam, Wombi and John discovered the incredible paper art form of kirigami and were inspired. The duo took their engineering background and combined this ancient art with the sliceform structure used in ship design to develop Slicegamiā¢, and Lovepop was born.
You'll learn a lot of stuff like picking the correct paper, learn about traditional offset printing, distribution, getting reps, and more. We'll also touch briefly on homemade cards as well.
With two greeting card companies under my belt, and over 25 years experience, I'll show you how to "Jump Start" your career with some great advice. I started the course with 25 lectures and have added 12 more over the last year alone! Plus you'll even get some added bonus material on licensing! Join today and make it your business to make people smile!
This is an Intermediate course, but it's still packed with a lot of great information that anyone starting a design company can appreciate!
