The breath is probably one of the most delicate bodily functions that we have. Only one experience can change the way we breathe, and it is constantly changing. How we breathe is how we live. How we live is how we breathe. That's why it's so important to have these practices like Pranayama, so we can consciously reconnect with our breath and regain our inner balance.
Gaining control over our breath and mastering it requires years and years, if not lifetimes of constant practice. But that's not the goal here. The intention with practicing Pranayama should be to get more and more in contact with that life force energy within us and surrounding us and to learn how to direct and control it so that our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body will benefit.
