COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Your authorial voice is your calling card. A strong voice transforms a story, giving the readers a pair of glasses so they see events through your unique eyes.

This course will walk you through a series of practical exercises that will help you discover the best in your writing, areas for improvement, and the writer you want to be. You will learn how to blend your personality with writing styles you admire to create an entirely new voice that could only be yours.

You will consider the writer you currently are, those writers whose work you admire and would like to emulate, and your own unique attributes. Through the exercises, you will address multiple facets of voice, its importance, and how it functions in a story. Best of all, these exercises are helpful at any stage in your writing career because we are always developing as authors.

A strong voice elevates a story and can take a common plot, such as boy-meets-girl, and make it completely unique. My goal is for you to emerge understanding why you like the writing you do and possessing a clear path forward for how to bring stories to life yourself.
