Basic Implementation and design of Model Predictive Control

Basic Implementation and design of Model Predictive Control

This course trains on the use of MPC (model predictive control) software. It starts from the fundamentals: the history behind MPC, the need for MPC, how MPC is superior when used right and where other control methodologies could be more appropriate.

The course covers how to conduct step tests and identify MPC models, design and build the MPC controller, startup, and commissioning. The course also covers MPC maintenance, and how to modify and improve MPC models after years of operation or after significant process changes. It covers automated step testing, PRBS, and other new techniques.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, attendees will be equipped with the skills to design, maintain and troubleshoot MPC controllers. They will be able to use the modern 3G closed-loop dynamics identification technology to improve DMI models using Pitops-TFI. They will have the skills to observe plant trends and troubleshoot the MPC controller and discuss with operations and control engineers how to improve the control.

Our MPC700 (Basic Implementation and design of Model Predictive Control) training course is very practical, and easy to understand for everyone: engineers, technicians, operators, and students – both new and experienced. That is why our customers consider us the best.
This training course covers the use of MPC (model predictive control) software. It starts from the fundamentals: the history behind MPC, and the need for MPC. The course covers how to conduct step tests and identify MPC models, design and build the MPC controller, and startup and commissioning, all in the time domain. Our course is more hands-on than any competitor. Students can download and install process control software products on their personal laptops for use during our process control training. The software products are full-blown industrial process control software applications used by the industry. This level of hands-on approach tremendously aids the learning process and mastering process control theory and practicals.

Our instructors have over 30 years of industrial experience and process control training experience. They not only have the technical process control knowledge but also skills to make sure participants are fully engaged and able to concentrate on the material.

As part of the Udemy MPC700 training course you will only get the possibility to install the following powerful software product on your own computer (7-day free trial):

• COLUMBO – Closed-Loop Universal Multivariable Optimizer for Model Predictive Control

For installation and activation please contact us at [email protected]. The usage of the above software package is only limited to educational purposes, not for any industrial or commercial use.

If you would like to participate and enroll in more detail and a full-blown course on Basic implementation and design of model predictive control and beyond, please contact us directly at [email protected]. In our wider training course, in addition to Udemy topics you will understand and learn how to do slave PID control optimization, how to build a new MPC system, when to use and when not to use MPC, how to choose MPC or APC for a certain process, about MPC monitoring, troubleshooting, commissioning and good MPC practices, and many similar topics.

After competition of our full-blown MPC700 training course, you will get an international diploma as a process control expert in the field of Basic implementation and design of model predictive control, and you will get also the possibility to install our multivariable system identification process control software for the time period of more than one month. For more information, please contact us at [email protected].
