Course details
In this course, students will be led to consider the reasonableness of the Christian faith in light of common objects to it. Engaging video lectures from world leading experts will be viewed, and students will be asked questions and given activities to do in response. Six main modules are included, each with two or three video lectures:
Is atheism or Christianity true? Why, after 10 years of talking with atheists I’m still a Christian – Unbelievable host, Justin Brierley
Is there philosophical evidence for God? 7 arguments for Theism – Dr. William Lane Craig
Why Christian faith makes sense of science – Prof John Lennox
Why does God allow suffering? – Dr. Amy Orr-Ewing
What’s the evidence for Jesus? Why we can trust the Gospels – Dr. Amy Orr-Ewing
Did Jesus really rise again? The new case for the resurrection - Dr. Gary Habermas
Each of the six modules also contain three categories of assignments:
Watch. Listen. Respond. These include relatively simple questions about important points made throughout a lecture.
Critical Reflection. These are deeper questions about key points of a lecture intended to get the student to fully engage with a crucial topic.
Take Action. These are activities designed to put a point or principle into practice, to 'do' something in response to the lecture.
After completing this course, students will be familiar with the most common objections to Christian faith and how to answer those with reasonable, philosophically robust arguments. Christians, sceptics, and those in between will find a balanced discussion of the issues.
Leading thinkers on apologetics, the evidence for God and answering objections.
