Polymer Clay Hair Barrettes
Polymer Clay Hair Barrettes
This course is designed for adults and kids who want to put their hair up this summer. We'll start with a review of all the tools and materials needed to complete the project. This includes some barrette blanks you can buy at the craft store. You will also need some polymer clay of any color you like, a roller of some type, polymer clay cutting blades and a pasta machine to roll out you slabs.
Once you have to tools and materials assembled, I’ll show you how to make a bullseye cane. We’ll use several different colored bullseye canes to make a square kaleidoscope cane. This will become our first barrette. I will show you how to assemble slices of your kaleidoscope cane on a base slab of clay. We will then secure the clay to the barrette blank with a clay strip.
The second barrette will be made from a marble coil assembled from the scraps of clay left-overs we had from our first barrette. Nothing goes to waste. We’ll assemble the marble coils on a base slab of clay and attach it to the barrette blank.
Our third barrette will be made using the Natasha cane technique. Once again, we’ll use our scraps to create a beautiful Natasha reflection slab. That slab will be cut and formed to the barrette blank for our final piece.
Stay cool this summer with some unique barrettes
