Acids, Bases and Salts, Qualitative Analysis, Metals

Acids, Bases and Salts, Qualitative Analysis, Metals

This course covers the chapters on acids, bases, and salts, qualitative analysis (testing of cations, anions, and gases), metals, ammonia, and the periodic table.  It is specifically written based on the Singapore O Level Chemistry syllabus (Syllabus 6092).

The course covers these topics:

  • acids, bases, and salts

    • physical and chemical properties of acids

    • pH scale

    • physical and chemical properties of bases

    • the three methods of salt preparation, and how to describe the salt preparation (Template answers which you can 'cut-and-paste' for the exam are provided)

  • qualitative analysis - testing of cations, anions and gases

  • formation of ammonia in the Haber process

  • Metals

    • properties of metals

    • reactivity series

    • displacement of metals

    • extraction of metals

    • heating of carbonates (thermal decomposition of carbonates)

    • recycling (of metals)

    • extraction of iron from haematite in the blast furnace

    • rusting and ways to protect  iron from rusting

    • alloys of iron (i.e. steel)

  • Periodicity (where we talk about the periodic table, properties of the following elements in the periodic table: Group I, Group VII, Group 0, and transistion elements)

In this course, you'll not only learn the concepts but also learn how to apply them. I also provide template answers which you could use for your exam.

This is the complete course that I conduct in my face-to-face tuition lessons. Most schools take months to complete these topics. But now, you can learn the entire organic chemistry topic tested in O Level Chemistry anytime, anywhere, at your own pace, and watch it any number of times you like.
