Welcome to essential cooking Traditional Portuguese Cuisine with Maria
Maria Will be teaching you a variety of techniques in cooking, that will really bring the best cooker on you. Her main specialty is Portuguese food, but Portuguese food is not (only) Mediterranean cuisine, but Atlantic, African, Asian and Brazilian cuisine. This comes from Portugal’s History of which also a bit of the World’s History. The real success of a dish comes from correct preparation techniques just as much as it comes from high-quality ingredients, flavor combinations, or creative plating.
Starting with a Mediterranean base that has its roots in the trio bread, wine, and olive oil, complemented by soups, fruit, pork meat, and fish, the Portuguese cuisine also includes ingredients that came from the Maritime Discoveries like beans and potatoes, Indian spices or “malagueta” also known as chili or “peri-peri” from Africa.
Then get ready to have a great session, with plenty of fun, learning in a very relaxed way. Always remember you are in your kitchen and the special ingredient is love.
Cooking is relaxing, and I believe that you also can transfer emotions, as love to our food. Enjoy the process of cooking, make it fun, use your imagination, trying new flavors, and all your senses bringing presence, in the way you touch, smell, and taste the food. In some of my cooking videos, you will see me cooking with my 6 years old son, this is always a pleasant time for us as a family, cooking and eating at the table together.
