Human Anatomy and Physiology- 2. The Cell

Human Anatomy and Physiology- 2. The Cell

Human Anatomy and Physiology- 2. The Cell, is a self-paced course that covers the parts and functions of a cell, as well as basic cellular functions that are critical for anatomy and/or physiology courses.  This includes the cellular organelles and their roles,  and basic cell processes including protein synthesis, gene regulation and cell division.

This course centers around essential concepts of cell biology, including:

  • the significance of the plasma membrane

  • structure and function of:

    • the cytoplasm

    • the ribosomes

    • mitochondria

    • the endoplasmic reticulum

    • The Golgi apparatus

    • lysosomes, peroxisomes and proteosomes

    • the nucleus

  • the different stages of protein synthesis including:

    • transcription

    • translation

    • gene regulation

  • various aspects of cell division including:

    • mitosis

    • meiosis

    • control of cell division

    • aging

  • mechanisms of cell death including:

    • autophagy

    • apoptosis

    • necrosis

This course presents material in a clear and concise way, with important points highlighted in text. The course would be particularly useful to students who need to review these critical concepts to prepare for entrance examinations into the allied health professions, or existing health professional students who need to review the material prior to certification board examinations.  Existing students who need a different perspective to advance their learning would also benefit from this course.

Human Anatomy and Physiology- 2. The Cell, is taught by a highly qualified and experienced instructor who is internationally recognized for her clear, well-organized and engaging classes.

This course covers and cell and basic cellular functions. This knowledge is critical for anatomy and physiology.
