Meterology 401: Global Climate Zones
Meterology 401: Global Climate Zones
Our world is made up of many climates and climate zones that have many climatic controls that determine the zone of which we live and interact. Have you ever wondered what makes up our climate zones? Why is my climate the way it is and how can a meteorologist or climatologist maintain and respect climate zones?
Well, we are going to explore the 7 factors that make up a particular climate region: sunshine intensity, land and water ratio balance, ocean currents, prevailing winds, high pressure and low pressure locations, mountain barriers, and altitude. These 7 factors will be examined and explored as constants in influencing our climate zones.
We will then look at the Koppen classification system of climates and study each region looking at both the micro climate and the macro climate present in each environment with respect to the latitudes of Earth where each climate is present. These climatic systems are most affected by the relative temperature and the amount of annual precipitation that each climate zone gets annually.
The course will conclude with ways that we can take action to protect, preserve, and plan for the future generations to enjoy the climates that we live in the near future. Whether you live in a tropical savanna of Africa, the frozen permafrost of Siberia, or the wet tropics of the Amazon our climate is here to help you live your best life. Meteorology 401 Global Climates is the course for you if you aspire to be a competent scientist wanting to make a difference in not just your life but the life of others by taking care of our environment and climate one plant or shower at a time.
