Climate Breakdown - What do we want governments to do?
Climate Breakdown - What do we want governments to do?
This is a short course where you will learn about what action we want from governments to manage climate breakdown, what we are likely to get from them and how we can bring our hopes and the realities into closer alignment. The course has been written for anyone who has an idea of the scale of the environmental problems we currently face but who wants to make sure that:
governments tells us the truth about man's impact on the climate and what they know of the issues and solutions;
governments put in place the policies that will allow this to happen; and
they all recognise the urgency of the position and act now.
By the end of the course you should be able to identify what we need from our governments if we are to avoid the most severe and catastrophic effects of climate breakdown. You will also understand what we need to do to “encourage” governments to make the necessary changes.
The course was put together in the summer of 2020. The fast moving events of 2020 and the start of 2021 with the global Covid-19 pandemic and the increasing number of indicators of climate breakdown are not reflected in the content but the issues discussed and the solutions offered remain relevant and urgent.
