Our society is learning more and more about the importance of mental health as the much neglected subject finally gets the attention it deserves. One of the incredibly important facets of health that gets neglected by those who need it most is secondary trauma.
KC Women's Ministry is dedicated to providing access to the best information and support for all doulas. With this goal, KCWM is hosting an amazing workshop taught by Moriah Barr, LMFTA. Moriah has put together a doula specific mental health training, using her history in working with domestic violence survivors as well as child sexual abuse survivors and their families. She is trained in trauma informed practices and specializes in anxiety, depression and trauma.
This is such an important training for birth workers, health workers and first responders alike. Secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout are real things and people who work in these industries are at higher risk. This class goes over ways to cope with secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout so you can continue to follow your heart and support your clients.
This class will be taught by Moriah Barr, LMFTA, a graduate from Texas Woman’s University and is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is trained in trauma informed practices and specializes in anxiety, depression, and trauma, all of which are far too common in the field of birth work. She also specialized in couples therapy.
At the end of this course, you'll be able to identify ways to help you overcome compassion fatigue and burnout.
