Self-Acceptance: The magical art of being a man
Self-Acceptance: The magical art of being a man
Would you humor me a second and answer the following:
Which type of a man do you resonate with more?
Are you the typical nice guy that has no needs and gets walked all over by everyone all the time. Are you addicted to being resentful?
OR
Are you the testosterone fueled overachiever playboy that is out to create a harem for yourself. And yet you feel empty on the inside?
OR
You are so lost that you are literally struggling at life and at your relationships, always seemingly taking the wrong approach about your decisions and your life. Are you sometimes unreasonably aggressive and other times totally incapable of standing up for yourself.
These top two archetypes that the society has prescribed as what "men" should be, have severely limited the scope of expression men in today's world can experience. If neither of those archetypes of a "man" is you then chances are, you have lived a good chunk of your life in the "lost" category.
How do I know? I in the "lost" category for a good chunk of my life.
Are you with me still? Good, it gets better, I promise.
I am also a notorious question asker:
On a fine day in Western Puerto Rico at a hostel, I asked an older gentleman what it meant for him to be a man.
This gentleman, gray hair and wrinkles, and possibly early 60s was radiant. He simply answered lovingly, seemingly amused by my question
"A man does what he wants".
I clearly did not get it at the time when I received the answer.
I had been a uber-nice-guy for many years in my life and I ended up resenting myself for that. Then I picked up some material on how to become an alpha-male, to "revert" the time I spent being a nice guy: I read some Pick up artist material and thought dating a ton of women would make me happier.
I wasn't.
The void inside of me and the quest to know myself at a deeper level, took me into a journey, which ultimately showed me that I am not anything anyone has said that I should be, ever.
When this really sink in, I began to understand and appreciate who I was as a person. I started to cherish the soft sides of me, and this allowed me to appreciate the aggressive and driven parts of me fully. It stopped being go-go-go all the time, and yet, I was not trying to be "nice" to everyone either. I started enjoying living in my own body for the first time in my life. I started honoring my needs and wasn't fixated on not showing that I needed love, this helped me deepen my relationships with people. Ultimately, I have already written a book about self-acceptance, I can write two more, about what I have experienced in this journey, so I will try to limit my words here and say that it has been incredible to accept myself for who I am fully. At times when self-acceptance is not free flowing, the ability to accept that and to move on and not stay stuck has been a big win for me as well. Expectation of the absolute anything is not realistic, and it is OK. My attitude is that of progress and not perfection.
The past few years, I have learned and taught so much of what I have learned along the way to men and women from all over the world because I love doing this work. In September 2020, I was approached by Aphro-D academy's Doc Farhan Khawaja, to create a module for his course in the Aphro-D academy for men. I created these series of videos as a result. The course turned out to be so dear to me that I wanted more people outside of the academy to enjoy it.
Some of you will want to know what qualifies me to teach this course. I would say that by far the biggest qualifications I have is living an incredibly curious, energetic, fortunate and often a very difficult life that I have lived. I am qualified to teach because of all of my teachers: my family, teachers that have formally and informally taught, the life circumstances, my co-workers, my family and everyone that I have come in contact with. I am so grateful.
To put it in a less abstract fashion: these videos are a distilled knowledge of all of the personal transformation work I have done(learned and taught), my interest in Hinduism, Buddhism, Kundalini Pranayama and Kundalini Kriya techniques, Energy healing(Reiki(Usui, Psychic), Full Spectrum, Core and Himalayan Shamanism, Learnings from classical Tantra, Neo Tantra, Western Occultism, Behavioral Psychology, Organization Psychology, Organizational Performance Management and what I have learned from being a student at a mystery school has taught me.
