How to Apply Defensive Tactics Against Youth Assailants

How to Apply Defensive Tactics Against Youth Assailants

This course explores methods of engaging in a physical altercation with a youth assailant. A misguided teenager, who attacks an adult authority figure, such as a teacher, can cause devastating damage. Though their judgement may not be fully developed, they often have enough strength and stamina to use deadly force. This is especially dangerous as children often lack the ability to understand the consequences of using deadly force and instead simply react in an emotional manner.

When in a physical altercation with a youth assailant, there are several concepts to keep in mind and techniques to avoid. For example, it is never appropriate, regardless of the situation for an adult to strike a child at full force. Instead, it is our goal is to restrain or detain the youth assailant without causing lifelong injuries as a result.

The information provided in this course may not represent the laws in your state. However, the techniques provided are universally effective when it comes to ending an altercation with a youth assailant.

This material in this course has been approved by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) in the State of Oklahoma for Unarmed Security Guards.
